Colors That Boost Mood - Part 2

Another page with various shades of green. I like the one from Valspar called Lovely Green.

Colors That Boost Mood

I found this article, Paint Colors that Boost Your Mood,on the Real Simple magazine Web site. I believe that colors can impact your outlook. I know I feel cheerier in certain color rooms and gloomy in others. Also, some patterns just freak me out. Anyway, I liked this green shade - I think it's Pear green - on this page.
Would green be good for the dining room - peaceful, relaxing?

DIY - Clock

Thought this clock that tells time in words is ultra cool.

See it here.

and learn to make it here.

This combines design and geekiness. I love it.

Budget and Small Space Decorating

This article in today's NY Times showcases a small space, low budget project in an apartment in the city.

I love the use of the bookshelf as a divider and the interesting lamps, accessories, that don't overwhelm. Color palette is clean and modern, but not start white.

Also, the fact that the designer kept it low cost for the client is a plus!

What color are you?

I am thinking about paint colors for my dining room. And my sister posted that she was yellow, according to some quiz she took. So I googled "What Color Are You?" and took a quiz. http://www.quizmeme.com/color/quiz.php

They say I am green.

You are a very calm and contemplative person. Others are drawn to your peaceful, nurturing nature.

I don't know. I don't think I am. I can be calm, but I can be energetic too. My family is probably rolling on the floor laughing!

The Meaning of Home

Holly's blog post on Home Sweet Home is really amazing because she expressed my own thoughts on home.

Some people grow up and do not have such a sweet home. There is chaos, fighting, illness and many other things that can stand in the way of feeling safe, at peace and happy at home. I think that is one of the best things about being an adult and moving out of the house for the first time. As a young person, you have the chance to create your own Home Sweet Home no matter what your past was like. You can remove the stress and chaos and start anew. You can make decisions that are good ones, so as to safeguard your new found freedom and peace.
I totally agree. Personally, I have been seeking that peaceful, loving, warm feeling in my home and continue to strive for it. Actually, it is exciting because I (and sometimes dear husband) am the decision maker and can make the choice to have a peaceful home and existence.

Ciao

Design - Do-it-yourself

I've decided to give this blog a theme -- a "home
design-decorating-do-it-yourself " ideas and thoughts. Good idea for a
blog?

So here' s one of the first things that caught my eye - Do-It-Yourself
Network has a Blog Log Cabin. The users voted on the design of the
cabin, DIY built it. And you can win it. Well, not technically, but
you can win $500K and go build your own cabin.

The site has photos, floor plans and videos. Cool, eh?
